Lauki Kofta Curry Recipe

Bottle gourd is also called as doodhi or ghiya. It helps to deal with heat and also prevents exhaustion in summer.

Most of the people don’t like lauki’s curry but i am sure they will definitely like this curry.

For Making gravy i used tomato, onion, ginger-garlic and some indian spices. I also added peanut powder to make it creamy and more yummy.

Ingredients

For Kofta

    • 2 cup grated bottle gourd(lauki).
      2 tbsp gram flour(besan).
      2 finely chopped green chili.
      1 tsp ginger-garlic-black pepper paste.
      Chopped coriander leaves.
      1/2 tsp red chili powder.
      1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
      1/2 tsp coriander powder.
      1/2 tsp cumin seeds.
      1 tsp salt.
      1 tbsp garam masala powder.
    • Oil for fry kofta.

For gravy

    • 2 tbsp oil.
      1 tbsp ghee.
      1 bay leaf.
      3-4 cloves.
      1 whole red chili.
      A pinch of asafoetida.
      1 tsp ginger-garlic-pepper paste.
      1/2 tsp cumin seeds.
      2 finely chopped green chili.
      1 cup onion puree.
      1 cup tomato puree.
      1 tbsp peanut powder.
      1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
      1/2 tsp coriander powder.
      1/2 tsp red chili powder.
      2 cup water.
      1 tsp garam masala powder.
      Required salt.

How to cook Lauki Kofta Curry Recipe

1. Firstly wash bottle gourd, peel and grate them.
2. Squeeze the grated bottle gourd.
3. Take grated bottle gourd in a bowl and add gram flour, green chili, ginger-garlic-black pepper paste and coriander leaves.
4. Now add spices red chili powder, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt.
5. Mix well and make round shape kofta with small portion of mixture.
6. Heat oil in a deep pan on high medium flame.
7. Fry the kofta in hot oil and fry on medium flame.
8. When golden brown from all the side then take out in a plate.
9. Heat oil with 1 tbsp ghee in a pan on medium flame.
10. When heated then add bay leaf, cloves, whole red chili and cumin seeds. Allow to crackle.
11. Add ginger-garlic-black pepper paste, green chili and cook for few seconds.
12. After that add onion puree and cook for a minute.
13. Onion turn light brown then add tomato puree and cook for 2 minutes.
14. Oil start to leave on sides then add peanut powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
15. Mix well and add 1 tbsp of water, Cook for 30 seconds.
16. Add 2 cups of water and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
17. It starts to boil so add garam masala powder and salt.
18. Add kofta and cook for a minute.
19. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve delicious and yummy Lauki kofta Curry.
