Khaman Dhokla Recipe


Khaman dhokla Recipe is a very popular and common food in gujrat state of India. It is a part of the Gujarati Thaali and looks identical dish of dhokla. If you do Prehaz of things made from oil then you must make it. Usually khaman dhokla eats as a breakfast with fried chillies,green chutney or sauce and also served with kari patta(green leaf). Dhokla is made in several ways, such as besan dhokla, Rava dhokla, sour dhokla. Today we will make Khaman dhokla through this Khaman Dhokla Recipe.



1 cup gram flour(besan).
1 tbsp semolina (sooji/rava).
8-10 curry leaves (kari patta).
2 tsp sugar.
1 tsp lemon juice(neembu ka ras).
1 tsp fruit salt or Eno powder.
3 tsp oil.
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai).
2 sliced green chilli.
a pinch of asafoetida (hing).
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves (dhania).
Required salt.

How to cook Khaman Dhokla Recipe

1 . Take besan, semolina/sooji/rava, sugar, lemon juice and salt with water in a large bowl and mix well and make a smooth batter.
2 . Pour 2-3 cups of water in steamer at bottom and heat it on medium flame.
3 . Just before placing the plates in steamer, add the fruit salt or Eno powder in batter and mix lightly in one direction.
4 . Pour the batter immediately to each greased(with oil) plate and spread upto 1/2-inch thickness..
5 . Now place each plates in a steamer for 10 to 12 minutes on medium flame till khaman dhokla are cooked.
6 . You can check with knife,insert knife into khaman and check if knife comes out clean then it is ready otherwise cook for 4-5 minutes more.
7 . Take oil in a small pan and heat them .
8 . When heated then add mustard seeds,green chillies, asafoetida(hing),cumin seeds and curry leaves and sauté on medium flame for a minute.
9 . Remove from the flame, add 2-3 tsp of water and mix well.
10. And Pour over the prepared khaman and spread it evenly.
11. Now garnish with coriander leaves and serve Khaman Dhokla with green chutney or sauce.
